Biography
Charmaine’s practice is deeply rooted in a strong social conscience and a steadfast commitment to environmental conservation. Her work serves as a conduit for raising awareness that goes beyond mere aesthetics, functioning as an intersection between art and advocacy for social and environmental issues. Drawing inspiration from her surroundings, she is intrigued by textures, colours, and the mathematical forms present in nature. She is particularly captivated by ephemeral and optical illusions which inform the direction of her creative process. Her artistic approach is largely experimental and multi-disciplinary, often seeking contrasting effects or deliberate juxtapositions. Deliberately designed to provoke a reaction in the viewer, encouraging reflection and dialogue about the themes presented in her work.
